Oh I love this. It may make me look smug but I don't care. First, a YouTube clip from the Craig Ferguson show about the iPhone.
And the lucky guy who bought the Gune early had this to say in his blog:
And this is where i leave you right now. The Zune already drawn its first blood; me. I cant install it for some reason, and i tried everything. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please leave a comment
Update: The Engadget guys have a post about the trials about installing the Zune software. For a software company to be this crap is just unbelievable.
When I saw the first screenshots of the Zune my first impression was: wow, widescreen! I am right aren't I? I mean, look at this:
Widescreen, right? Wrong. It’s half an inch diagonally bigger than the iPod but with the same resolution (320x240) and it's rotated 90°. Oh, and that image on the screen has been comped in. It's not a true representation of the screen or resolution. The Technology Slaviour blog has an excellent comparison between the iPod and the Zune.
The next domino to fall was the Zune's social music sharing feature. The shared music has can only be listened to 3 times or kept in the device for 3 days. Sorry? What? Huh?
But it can play movies right? Wrong! That'll come later! From the BBC News tech pages:
And finally, BROWN?!At launch Microsoft will only be offering one Zune player - a 30GB model with a 7.6cm colour screen and FM radio that comes in black, white or brown. Also at launch the Zune service will only offer music and associated art. Movies and TV shows will come later.
"They put a big screen designed for movies, but there are no movies for it," said analyst Rob Enderle. "That is a design mistake."
UPDATE: The word Zune means something different in Montreal. In the words of the immortal Homer, Doh!
